After moving to California, my wife and I were forced to learn a new form of shopping. It basically consists of spending the first half of your allotted shopping time trying to figure out where to buy your groceries for the cheapest price. Then you have the time consuming task of making a list and sorting the items by the stores that you are going to get your groceries from. Add coupons into the mix and you have the setting for a very confusing day. I designed this web site to help alleviate some of that stress.

"Why should I use this site?" - Well, that's a good question. When we lived in a small town in Texas, it would have been a little harder to come up with the answer. We pretty much just made up the list of items that we needed, went to one store, bought them all, and went home. Since we moved to a much larger city, the whole concept of shopping for groceries changed for us. Immediately after arriving here, we found that you could walk into a store and see a loaf of bread for $.75 , a gallon of milk for $2.95 and then walk into a store right next door and see the same loaf of bread for $1.35 and the same gallon of milk for $2.65. Well, that immediately threw up red flags for us. You could either spend an extra dollar, save a dollar or come out about even. If you weren't careful and didn't want to spend a little time, then you could be throwing away money, and not just some pocket change. But, if you spent a little time and did a little work, then you could save some money. I'm sure you can figure out what to do with some extra cash. I am not implying that this site alone will help you save cash, but if you do your homework and plan your trips to the grocery store, you might notice a difference like we are. It's merely a tool to help you stay organized, and trust me, I need all the help I can get.

So far it is just me operating and working on this site. It started with a program I wrote for my wife. She liked it, but it still needed some work. Before I got too much farther I decided that I should just make a web site out of it. Then it would be easier for both of us to access it from wherever we were. That would allow me to add things to our list from work as I thought about them. It started out pretty simplistic and hard to use, and has progressed into what you see today. I would like to call it a hobby, but it has become much more. I will be working on screens to help you with the items that you have marked purchased. I am currently working on some other ideas as well. As I come up with new screens and ideas, I will post them on the message board.

Like I said on the front page, feel free to use it for more than just groceries if you like. With the added connection possibilities (cellphones and Palms) I can think of a number of things that it could be used for. Office supplies has been suggested. You could set up a login for your office, and give everyone the password. As they need supplies, they could add them to the list. Then when it comes time to order supplies, you have a complete list. If they put their name in the comments field, then you know who gets what when they arrive. If you have an idea for a list, and don't want to mix it with your grocery list, then just make another login id and use it for your other list. I am not going to place any restrictions on that either. Hopefully this site will help you like it does me, as another way to keep information and access it.
